Cocktail is a type of mixed drink which is part of the alcohol family, next to wine and beer. Cocktails include flavouring agents which are added by party bartenders. This contains fruit juice, sauces, honey, milk, cream or spices. The cocktail became popular after the prohibition in United States . However, there may be allergy problems as such drinks may be very hazardous to consume. This is because alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are mixed together, and if proper ingredients are not used like the usual run-of-the-mill bartenders do, the cocktails are not well crafted and mixed at all.
Most traditional cocktails are made with gin, vodka or rum bases. One of such cocktails that a traditional bartender makes is a martini, which has a gin base. This type of mixed drinks was introduced after the period of 1980’s. The word cocktail was determined by Dr. David Wonderich in October 2005, and the tradition was continued by other bartenders worldwide.
Drinking cocktails can actually benefit you by relieving pains such as headaches and other bodily pains. Cocktails have water, bittering agents and sugar in them. These types of cocktails are also called bittered slings. Cocktails also keep the heart pumping and stronger, having electrolytes. It is said that a person who swallows one sip of cocktail is ready to drink anything else. Cocktails set the mood for the night, especially if your party bartender is making them.
There are several cocktail recipes and they come in different compositions according to the bartenders. There are 10 recipes for 10 different standard drinks referred to as “Cocktails”, and these are Punches, Sours, Slings, Cobblers, Shrubs, Toddies, Flips, and a variety of others.
The quality and amount of alcohol in every drink is actually lesser when compared to the other hard liquors. The cost of the cocktails also has a big difference, when going from cocktail to cocktail. These days, party bartenders have started preparing cocktails in a more bespoke fashion. They are mixed with different types of other drinks such as gin, whisky, milk and cream, and even soft drinks. These days, cocktails are hardly ever mixed with water. The ingredients mixed depend on the type of drink you want, from strong to sweet to bitter and even umami flavoured.
While serving cocktails, your party bartender will take great care in producing them. The typical cocktail glass is in the shape with a wide, shallow bowl, on a stem above a flat base. The cocktail glasses are designed in such a shape that the temperature should not change. Cocktails that are consumed outdoors will not have the temperatures outside affect them at all. An experienced bartender will be able to know which cocktail glasses to use, and which ones they should work with.
