A Guide To Buying Baby Bodysuits

As exciting as the arrival of a baby may sound, it’s not an easy task. Preparing the house for a newborn requires dedication and careful selection. One of the most challenging aspects of the preparation process is buying baby clothes. However, with the arrival of a wide range of comfortable baby bodysuits, this task is made easy for many new and young parents.

Due to the rapid increase in online shopping, the online baby product sales revenue is expected to rise by 27.6% by 2020-21 in Australia. Australian customers have adapted to the new lifestyle and have become more comfortable with online shopping. This has led to instant growth in the clothing market.

Baby bodysuits or onesies are more or less like extended T-shirts with a clip-on extension, making it easy for a diaper change and preventing the cloth from riding up a baby’s body and exposing skin. These bodysuits come in a variety of designs and can be either worn as an undergarment or an outfit.

Types of onesies:

Although bodysuits have a pretty straightforward design, within this basic design, there is a range of variations available based on the preference and comfort level of the infant.

Shoulder snap bodysuits: As you all are aware, regular bodysuits have a clip-on near the crotch; however, this type of onesie has a snap closure on the shoulder as well. This makes it extremely easy to get the bodysuit on and off your baby.

Wrap around bodysuits: As the name suggests, this bodysuit is designed as a kimono and is made to be wrapped around your baby. These have snap clips in the front or the back in addition to the one in the bottom. This onesie is extremely convenient as you can just place your baby on the bodysuit and wrap it around them like a blanket.

Benefits of baby bodysuits:

Continence protection and ease with which diapers can be changed: With the convenient fold-over design and snap clip-on, you can easily dress and undress your baby without hurting or disturbing your infant. Moreover, these are safe considering the delicate heads of infants and are also extremely hygienic while changing diapers and cleaning.

Onesies are made up of 100 per cent cotton: The use of cotton makes the baby bodysuits soft and comfortable, and therefore they can also be used as undergarments on colder days. Although bodysuits have an open design, they are breathable, absorbent and very soft, making them ideal for your delicate baby.

Does not affect the development and growth of a baby – Tight and elastic clothes can be extremely uncomfortable and affect the growth of a child; however, bodysuits do not have this problem. Onesies leave a lot of space near the abdomen, where most of the delicate organs are situated. The belly of the bodysuit is loose and comfortable, thereby not adding any more pressure to the infant’s growing tummy.

How to choose the right onesie:

Always give priority to comfort – While buying a bodysuit for your baby, pay close attention to the garment’s fabric. The clothes must always be light, soft and breathable. Rough materials can irritate your infant’s skin and cause allergies.

Be mindful of the weather: During the warmer months, avoid buying thick, furry bodysuits to prevent overheating. Instead, choose thin, cotton ones to facilitate ventilation. During the winter months, bodysuits can be used as an undergarment before layering up your baby.

Keep track of your baby’s size – Always check the label carefully for the size while buying. It is usually better to buy slightly bigger clothes for your baby as they may outgrow the bodysuit quickly. Moreover, slightly bigger clothes are more comfortable and let your baby move.
